About rheumatology

When the immune system turns on the body

Rheumatologic conditions happen when the immune system attacks healthy parts of the body — the joints, the spine, connective tissue, muscles or blood vessels. Many are long-term and come in flares.

Not every condition needs an infusion. Many people do well on pills or shots at home. When your rheumatologist decides an infusion is the right next step, we give it here and keep them updated after every visit.

Joints and spine

Pain, swelling and stiffness, as in rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis.

Skin, kidneys and lungs

Body-wide conditions such as lupus and scleroderma.

Blood vessels

Inflamed arteries and veins, as in vasculitis.

Muscles

Weakness from inflammation, as in dermatomyositis.

Conditions we support

Conditions and the infusions for them

Pick a group to see some of the conditions we support and examples of medicines a rheumatologist may order. These are examples, not a full list — we give a wide range of infusions and specialty medications.

Inflammatory arthritis and spondyloarthritis

When the immune system attacks the joints and spine, causing pain, swelling and stiffness.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)

Inflammation in the lining of the joints, often in the hands and feet, on both sides of the body.

Examples a rheumatologist may order

  • GolimumabInto a vein

Ankylosing spondylitis and axial spondyloarthritis

Inflammation mainly in the spine and lower back. Ankylosing spondylitis is the form that shows on X-rays; non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis doesn’t.

Examples a rheumatologist may order

  • InfliximabInto a vein
  • GolimumabInto a vein
  • SecukinumabInto a vein

These are examples, not a complete list of what we offer. We give a wide range of infusions and specialty medications for these and many other rheumatologic and autoimmune conditions. If your rheumatologist has prescribed a treatment you don’t see here, call us on 713-218-6337. Your rheumatologist decides what’s right for you, and we confirm your insurance approval before your first visit.
